First-Run Guide

Installer status: The current macOS installer is not code signed or notarized, and the Windows installer is not code signed. Your operating system may show a warning. Download only from /download or official GitHub Releases and verify the published checksum.

Setup assistant

On first launch, Desktop walks you through:

1. Choosing an AI-assisted or manual workflow.
2. Checking or installing the CourseCode tools used for preview and export.
3. Optionally setting up Git/GitHub tools for repository-based deployment.
4. Optionally signing in to CourseCode Cloud.

After setup, use the Create Wizard to name the project, choose its folder, LMS format, layout, and starter content.

Recommended first project flow

1. Create a new course from a starter template.
2. Let Desktop install the project dependencies when the project is created.
3. Add one page or module with content and media.
4. Preview locally and verify navigation.
5. Export a build artifact.

Connect Cloud when you need it

You can keep working locally. Connect Cloud when you want:

• hosted deployment
• managed authentication
• collaboration features
• usage credits

Troubleshooting
