First-Run Guide
Beta testing note: Current installers are not code signed/notarized yet, so macOS or Windows may show security warnings during install or first launch. This is expected for the current beta builds. Download only from /download or official GitHub Releases and verify checksums if needed.
Setup assistant
On first launch, Desktop walks you through:
- Selecting a local workspace folder.
- Creating your first project.
- Installing project dependencies (if prompted).
- Running local preview.
Recommended first project flow
- Create a new course from a starter template.
- Add one page/module with content and media.
- Preview locally and verify navigation.
- Export a build artifact.
Optional cloud step
You can continue locally forever. Connect cloud only when you want:
- hosted deployment
- managed authentication
- collaboration features
- usage credits
Troubleshooting
- Security warning during install/launch (current beta): this is expected for unsigned/notarized beta builds if you installed from official sources and the checksum matches
